Over-the-board tournament chess returned to Oregon with the Senior Open, held at the Portland Chess Club. Lennart Bjorksten and Wilson Gibbins tied for first, both finishing with 4.5 points out of 5. Mike Morris directed, with support from Mike Janniro.
In the first version of this post I pointed out that William Dwyer gained 98 rating points. Looking at the tournament report again, I am obligated to add that Ken Harry had an even bigger gain, 128 points. And Cameron Caleb DeYoung goes from unrated to 1708 – can I call that a 1708 point rating gain?
The prize winners were:

Lennart Bjorksten, Wilson Gibbins | Tie for first and second place | $150 |
