Oregon fell behind, made a comeback in the 4th set of games, but was unable to complete the comeback on Wednesday, June 23.
While we experienced some disappointments, as rapid chess often provides, there were some high points. Annotations are provided by Stockfish 13 and the Lichess “Request a computer analysis” function.
Matt Zavortink got a nice positional crush in round 2.
Shunakai Peng beat IM Keaton Keaton Kiewra on the white side of a Sicilian in Round 3
Roshen Nair and Dave Murray got wins in the 4th set of games to fuel the comeback.
Roshen got a fast win from the Reti opening.
And Dave got a chaotic game from the white side of a Mar del Plata variation of the King's Indian defense, and came out on top.
